Evening Activities & Special Events
We have a variety of very special activities that help make for a most memorable summer. These include…
Lip Sync
One of our favorite and most fun evenings are our Lip Sync Competitions. Each bunk plans/ choreographs and then performs their Lip Syncs for the other campers and our panel of judges (our dance faculty). A rolicking fun and good humored evening where everyone’s a winner but only one bunk gets crowned as the champs.
Co-ed Socials
Being attached to the Brant Lake Camp for Boys affords us the opportunity for co-ed activities several times during the week, optional. Age appropriately designed activities are offered, more frequently for the older girls.
Weekly Campfire Nights
Campfires are a time we gather as a camp and reflect on our experiences at camp as a community. We feel it is important for the girls to enjoy sitting out under the stars at a campfire, hearing stories, exchanging experiences and enjoying roasted marshmallows and s’mores.
Barbeques
On Sunday afternoons, we have special co-ed barbeques down at the lake which are a lot of fun. Hot dogs, burgers, salads, chips, cookies and soft drinks are always on-hand to make the sunsets extra special.
Trips
Fun, out-of-camp trips are planned each week as a change of pace to the daily program. Trips include a variety of outings to local Adirondack attractions complete the camp experience beyond our campus. (As of now, because of Covid, we will not be going on any day trips. This may change as the situation and circumstances change.)
Banquet Night
Towards the end of the Brant Lake Dance Camp, we plan to celebrate the close with a very special, more formal dinner for all the dance campers. The Faculty, Staff and campers recap the highlights of the previous 2 weeks and share their most memorable experiences.
Evening
Evening activities vary daily and the girls have a number of fun and unique opportunities. Some evenings, the whole camp will have games together, some nights are special events with Brant Lake Camp for Boys, other nights we have special events for just the 3rd – 6th graders and for the 7th -9th graders there’s a choice of a co-ed activity or other fun activity. All evenings are carefully tailored to the girls’ interests, with sensitivity towards their maturity levels.
Sundays
On Sundays we have a different schedule in Camp. The girls wake up at 10 AM and have a special brunch. This is then followed by two periods of special workshops as well as Enchoreo/choreography mentoring. At 2PM the camp gathers in the girls’ clubhouse for healthy snacks. Then we all go down to the lake for a co-ed afternoon which begins at the waterfront then continues to a lakeside cookout at 4PM. The younger girls then have their own movie night and the older girls have the option of either a co-ed movie or one for just them. At 8PM we gather all together for a hardy snack and a regular bedtime.
Trips & Special Events
One day a week is a Trip day. The various day trips may be to; a Six Flags Amusement park; to the Saratoga Performing Arts Center to see a New York City Ballet performance with dinner out in Saratoga; Lake George and mini golfing, an easy hike in our beautiful Adirondack foothills, and white water rafting.
All of our trips out of camp continue to have a counselor to camper ratio of about 1-4. All admittance fees/tickets and meals are also included in the session fee.
